Welcome to Love's! Our Indirect Tax team is looking for a Tax Technologist to lead technology projects and optimize technology usage within the Indirect Tax department, ensuring tax compliance and maximizing resource efficiency.

 

Job Functions:

  • Define the requirements necessary for developing and implementing enhancements and production support fixes.
  • Serve as a liaison among business units, technology teams, support teams, and indirect tax departments, fostering effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrate strong information-gathering skills.
  • Support discussions on project prioritization, timelines, trade-offs, and prepare ROI submissions for new initiatives.
  • Conduct functional and performance testing on systems to validate implemented changes.
  • Manage both complex large-scale tax projects and smaller enhancement efforts.
  • Develop innovative solutions to enhance the quality and accessibility of data for indirect tax users.
  • Support the automation of indirect tax processes.
  • Design creative technical solutions to address process challenges.
  • Lead project team meetings.
  • Train stakeholders on how to effectively use new or enhanced software functionalities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Experience and Qualifications:

 

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent training and experience is highly preferred.
  • At least three years of experience in multi-state indirect tax and accounting is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of indirect tax accounting practices is advantageous.
  • Understanding of end-to-end company retail sales, purchases, and fuel business models is preferred.
  • Familiarity with large data sets and data analysis is beneficial.
  • Experience with software projects or implementations is valued.

 

 

Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in Excel and a solid understanding of SQL and database management
  • Experience with software such as Commodities Trading and Risk Management platforms (e.g., Solarc RightAngle), Core ERP systems (e.g., SAP core modules), Sales/Use Tax Engines (e.g., Vertex O Series), Sales Tax filing software (e.g., Vertex), Accounting software (e.g., SAP), Fuel Excise tax filing software (e.g., Avalara), SharePoint, Alteryx, and Tableau is advantageous
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software applications; technically oriented
  • Skilled in critical thinking, detail-oriented, highly organized with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; innovative and self-driven
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, effectively engaging with management, technical colleagues, and business stakeholders

 

Typical Physical Demands

  • Requires extended periods of sitting, occasional bending and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting of items up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity adequate for operating a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Requires typical range of hearing and vision.
